I am Aaron J. Slavin, Owner of the SLAVIN LAW FIRM.  If you are looking for an experienced criminal trial attorney to assist you in any criminal matter that you may have, then you have come to the right place.

Please allow me to tell you a little bit about myself and what ultimately led me to start the SLAVIN LAW FIRM.

I was born and raised on the "Jersey Shore."  I obtained my B.A. degree from the University of Maryland @ College Park where I double-majored in Criminology & Criminal Justice and Sociology.  While at Maryland, I was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma: The National Criminal Justice Honors Society; Alpha Kappa Delta: The National Sociology Honors Society; and Phi Sigma Kappa: a social fraternity.

After college, I chose to enroll in law school in the sunny State of Florida where I graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law.  While in law school, I was chosen to be an Articles & Comments Editor on the University of Miami Business Law Review.  That privilege helped me to get one of my writings, entitled: The "Las Vegas Loophole" and the Current Push in Congress Towards a Blanket Prohibition on Collegiate Sports Gambling, published in the Law Review's Spring/Summer 2002 edition.  To date, this article has been cited in numerous legal articles and journals and remains an authoritative source for law professors, state and federal lawmakers and law students throughout the country.

While in law school, I utilized my summers to gain criminal law experience with the hope of becoming a prosecutor upon graduation.  After my first year of law school, I clerked for the Office of the Attorney General in Baltimore, Maryland.  After my second year of law school, I was a certified legal intern with the Office of the State Attorney for the 15th Judicial Circuit in West Palm Beach, Florida.  The experience gained in these positions allowed me to be chosen, and sworn in, as an Assistant State Attorney in the State of Florida.

Over the next six years, I quickly rose through the ranks at the Pinellas and Pasco State Attorney's Office.  This progression allowed me to prosecute a wide variety of criminal cases.  As an Assistant State Attorney, I held positions such as the South County Traffic Court attorney, a County Court Lead Trial Attorney, a Felony Domestic Violence attorney and a Child Abuse/Sex Crimes attorney.

Before leaving the State Attorney's Office, I was the lead prosecutor in the office's Gang Prosecution Unit.  During this two-year special prosecution appointment, I was able to handle some of the Office's most high-profile, complex and challenging cases.

During this two-year assignment, I prosecuted and obtained convictions against numerous high-ranking criminal street gang members in the Tampa Bay area.  Some of my more notable prosecutions involved members of the Asian Pride Gang (St. Petersburg), the Royal Bloods (New Port Richey), the Valentine Bloods (Pasco County), Quince (Clearwater) and Sur 13 (Clearwater).

The Gang Unit convictions that I obtained included multiple charges of Second Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Armed Robbery, Armed Burglary, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Trafficking in Illegal Drugs and a variety of other property and narcotics-related offenses.

Many of the newspaper articles in the PRESS ROOM cover these cases in more detail.  I encourage you to read some of these articles to see what the media has written about the cases that I've prosecuted.  As they say, you're only as good as what other people say behind your back.  During my six year tenure as a State prosecutor, I've been quoted in the following media outlets: the St. Petersburg Times, The Tampa Tribune, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, The Daily Citizen, The New York Times and The Associated Press.

Aside from my duties as the head Gang Unit prosecutor, I was also part of a select group of prosecutors that were chosen to be on the State Attorney's Office DUI Manslaughter Squad.  In this role, I responded to, investigated and prosecuted numerous traffic-related fatality cases.  These cases included multiple DUI Manslaughters as well as a Vehicular Homicide.  While these cases were often emotional and difficult to prosecute, I found them to be very rewarding when the victim's family and friends finally received some measure of justice.

During my tenure at the State Attorney's Office, I was also an instructor at St. Petersburg College where I taught in both the police and corrections academies.  In this role, I had the opportunity to teach classes, to future law enforcement officers, on Constitutional Law, Search and Seizure, DUI Law and Courtroom Testimony & Demeanor.

After six years of public service at the State Attorney's Office, I decided it was time to utilize my vast array of training and experience to help protect the rights of everyday citizens that have been accused of wrongdoing.  These rights, that I swore to uphold and abide by as an Assistant State Attorney, are the bedrock of our criminal justice system.  They are the foundation upon which our system rests. Without an experienced criminal trial attorney to protect your rights, the system will be stacked against you.  I know that from the inside out.

Thus, the SLAVIN LAW FIRM was created in 2008. While I can never guarantee what will ultimately happen to your case (don't let any criminal defense attorney guarantee you a certain result), I can pledge to uphold the same principles that have guided my legal career to date and have produced the many successes that you have either read or heard about.
